And It Happens Like This

Eveytime I put on my sandals
I open the door to ice.
There’s a fire in the building,
and I’m stuck in the elevator
with a haystack and a needle.
I escape with a hard hat and scalpel
only to find the costume party has
a Star Wars theme.
When I try to hold on to what
I need. There’s an angel on my
shoulder saying go, you’re what you need,
you idiot. There’s a baboon on my other
saying don’t let go, you little shit.
I climb out of a ditch just in time to
see I’ve missed the bus. I order
orange juice but get lemon instead.
I put one foot in front of the other in hopes of going
anywhere only to find I’m on a treadmill.
First come love, then comes marriage and
well you know the rest.
I just want a comfortable bed.
I’ve been told seeing is believing but it isn’t,
it’s a road stop on
the way to somewhere else.
Thursday I’m at the the bank
submitting myself to math
that never adds up. Saturday
finds me in Vegas playing the
slot machines and knowing
I’ll never win. Sunday I’ll push
beyond cereal and milk
and plot my escape plan.

  1. Enjoyed this, fecker.
    Apart from “Saturday
finds me in Vegas playing the
    slot machines and knowing
    I’ve never win”
Sort it out, eh? You know that I never make mistakes and also cannot abide it in others. 😝

  2. You know I like this…
…so why should I bother to comment.
Maybe the fun in the sun, play in the hay, slap and tickle is why I come back and respond.
    Well done, T

      1. For your father to get home? He left the country when I told him what a bad child you were. I was going to tuck you in but decided you’re old enough to tuck yourself in.

It’s really great how we have such normal and rational conversations. Now go to bed, you little f***

  3. Bonsoir TOSHA

  4. Ah, real world thoughts.
Thanks for surendering your honest secerts.
It helps me understand, my own day to day feelings of the chotic circles, that evolve to revolve around life’s much bigger picture.
    Onward & upward.
This is a great Sunday read to just settle
    into, & take a deep breath. ♡

      1. Laughing. That makes me happy. My writing can be sad, even though I consider myself a very positive person. I view you in the exact same way. While I have your attention, can I find your weekly broadcasts saved anywhere?

  5. Beautiful poem and the image goes perfectly well with it. Someone told me once they had a feeling genesis was the other way around and women never could have come out of the rib of Adam (if any the other way around). I share to some extent that idea considering we have the greater role in creation. Dream on Tosha and keep coming up with these compelling writes 🙂
