Life in Motion

The encyclopedia of my life
dwells inside my mind.
Home is found in my personal history.
My world is located here.
The trajectory of a moonlight
path. The sun upon my face.
My mother’s embrace. The
voices of friends. Love lost
Love found The purr of my cat.
My daughters’ laughter. My
Father’s smile. These things
give me purpose.

My life has been a slow
awakening. With the passing
of each year, I become more
aware, more alive. Time has
a way of opening eyes. It’s
midday and the mist never
clears completely.
I’m still struggling in a dimly
lit room. Trying to understand
where my place is in the
swirling of seasons, places
and things. I yawn and stretch,
hungry for the unknown, the unborn poem,
the next adventure, to exist wholly,
before the fadeout begins.

One of Those Posts

Hello beautiful ones.. Random stuff from the peanut gallery. I’ll be posting a poem soon. Hope everyone had a lovely New Year’s day. I’m so happy to see 2019. There’s already a sense of renewal and grace.

Here’s a few pictures from New Year’s Eve and the motley crew I call friends. I was honored to just take the photos.

Also a new year calls for a new home.  We downsized awhile back into an apartment, but are ready to get back into a home of our own. I thought I’d share a few of the houses in our price range that caught my eye. We’re going to take our time, still wondering if it might be better to buy some land and build.  It’s just exciting to start planning.  It’s  lovely to live in an area where the cost of living is low. Homes are more than reasonable around here.

And my favorite.

Anf now from the cats in my life, although only the last one is technically mine 😎

The greatest cat ever

Let’s end with a tune xx

2019 I’m ready!

Scenes from my Christmas and yet another new pair of eyeglasses.

Now for a few quotes about the new year.

“Hope. Smiles from the threshold of the year to come, Whispering ‘it will be happier’…-Alfred Lord Tennyson

“May the New Year bring you courage to break your resolutions early! My own plan is to swear off every kind of virtue, so that I triumph even when I fall!”
-Aleister Crowley, Moonchild

“Each New Year, we have before us a brand new book containing 365 blank pages. Let us fill them with all the forgotten things from last year—the words we forgot to say, the love we forgot to show, and the charity we forgot to offer.”
-Peggy Toney Horton

And what’s a blog post without a little Swift?

Hope you all have a very happy vintage new year full of sunshine, laughter, love, and loads of books and chocolate. ❤️ -Tosha

You Can Tell Everybody…

this is your song. My cover of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” See after poem. Wishing you all the happiest of holidays. xx

“Music on Christmas Morning” by Anne Brontë

Music I love – but never strain
Could kindle raptures so divine,
So grief assuage, so conquer pain,
And rouse this pensive heart of mine –
As that we hear on Christmas morn,
Upon the wintry breezes borne.

Though Darkness still her empire keep,
And hours must pass, ere morning break;
From troubled dreams, or slumbers deep,
That music kindly bids us wake:
It calls us, with an angel’s voice,
To wake, and worship, and rejoice.

To My Grandmother

I know you’re in a better place.
where anguish and pain
can’t find you.
Your frail arms strong again
Your mind free of dementia,
where your hardest task is
choosing a book over a nap.

I know God must exist,
and he must be a good God
because he gave me the
gift of you. Proof was found
in the way you nurtured me,
my teacher of homespun truths,
my giver of Sunday dinners,
porch swing singalong, and
honeysuckle musings.

Sometimes when my eyes are
starry, I feel the membrane
between our worlds break
and I find you again.
You’ve traveled so far to
be near, galaxies envelopes
us. You faster than the lightest
of lights, so much faster than
death and despair.

In these times I can feel
you living on in me.
Remnants of a childhood of
belonging and grace.
The cosmos and it’s mysteries
of scattered matter and infinite
wonder draws us closer still.
Granddaughter and
Grandmother together again.

This and That

Happy Sunday. I recently took a DNA test from Ancestry.com. These were my results. No big surprises.

And in other news, Tucker making the world brighter 😜

Lastly, some Christmas cheer. I’ll be posting a point dedicated to my grandmother on Wednesday.  Love to all. 💕

Friday Jam

Tucker taking a cat nap.😜 I know I’m such a dork. Hope you all have a weekend to write about full of adventure and all good things. Here’s the latest song stuck in my nerdy head.  So catchy. It’s Bleachers  ‘Don’t Take the Money”  Apparently the song is about Lena Dunham. Jack Antonoff wrote it for his lady love with a little help from Lorde. Hope you enjoy. 💕

Never Forgotten

I thought of you 15 years old
and your parents who weep
for their son who’s life ended
much too soon, another
fragrant willow clipped
with the blunt shears of
a world gone mad.

Another life taken by a mass
shooter who name I refuse to
recall.

I thought of the life you
should be living,
all the milestones you’ll
miss, a future that should
be fully in bloom.

I mourn for the
shadows of other
children senselessly
gunned down
Faded blossoms
and the fullest summers
that might have been.

I pondered how anyone can
be indifferent
to a wind that continues to
shutter and lash out.
Endangering elms and
our humanity.

I long for a day where
the headlines aren’t
filled with grieving families
and discourse that solves
nothing, but perpetuates hate
Whiplashing our brains
with fear and despair.

You won’t be forgotten.
precious child.
You didn’t deserve
such a hellish fate,
nor will I forget the ones
who inevitably will come
after you if we don’t
start acknowledging the
thunderthrottled air.

Rest in peace. I hope
you’re in a place where
the monochrome scales
of this world have gone
a serene blue.
A place where the weather
never conspires against you
and your soul is a lexicon
of green serenity.

The Gardens at Middleton Place- Charleston SC

I captured the shots below while spending time at Middleton Place, exploring America’s oldest garden. I didn’t realize at the time the resolution on my iPhone had been set to low. Grr! I definitely want to visit again in the spring with better resolution and sunshine in view.  On this outing,  it became progressively cloudy and colder as the day went on. I imagine the landscape is especially stunning in warmer weather with all the flowers in bloom.

“Charleston has a landscape that encourages intimacy and partisanship. I have heard it said that an inoculation to the sights and smells of the Carolina lowcountry is an almost irreversible antidote to the charms of other landscapes, other alien geographies. You can be moved profoundly by other vistas, by other oceans, by soaring mountain ranges, but you can never be seduced. You can even forsake the lowcountry, renounce it for other climates, but you can never completely escape the sensuous, semitropical pull of Charleston and her marshes.”

-Pat Conroy

Middleton Place

Some photos I took at historic Middleton Place in Charleston SC.  I apologize for the quality.  I didn’t realize until after that the resolution on my IPhone was on the lowest setting. In any event, the house and grounds are beautiful. I also made some new furry friends. Shh! Don’t tell Tucker. I’ll post photos from the gardens soon.
