Sometimes I sing in incomplete rhymes.
I write in crayon and leave
my shoes beside the sandbox.
I sign my letters with x and o.
I ponder in doubt, the crisscross musings
speaking out loud.
Sometimes a woman needs
flowers out of season, homegrown vegetables, romance,
sex, and easy to read instructions.
Instead she meditates on ice cream
Jung and HGTV
Attempts to become enlightened.
Prays to paper and pen.
Looking for an all encompassing view.
Hoping for an all embracing embrace.
She offers herself to drumbeat and sage.
The rhythm under the air. She turns her heart
to some inferior door, finding something buried
in red. Hope for a moment sustained
-Tosha Michelle
That was beautiful Tosha. I’m not a woman but some of that even resonates with me ☺

A lovely write with such subtle undertones. I love Carl Jung! “leave my shoes by the sandbox” a quaint phrase snuck in there beautifully.

I imagine that any woman who read this poem could quite easily see a part of herself and the emotion attached to this very moving and atmospheric rendering. K.D.

Jeesh, kiddo – my heart bleeds for you everytime I read stuff like this. I wish, I wish, I wish – honest I do. Right, I’m going to have a big, fat, juicy Navel orange now.
Have a great day – and have a Godiva for me ( I’m off chocolate at the moment and missing it terribly! Oh, wait – no – I’m not missing it at all – I musn’t put that kind of thought in my head! I am going to enjoy my orange! I am, I am!! 🙂 ).

Haha. Off of chocolate? I’m the one who feels bad for you. However, mad props for calling me a kiddo. Ha

Hi Tosha, I was trawling – like I do for work – interior design blogs, and happened upon this post, it was a welcome break from the often shallow nature of the blogs I normally read. A nice moment of deeper contemplation for my working day – thanks x
