Pretty in pink.
Eye surgery went well. I’m still in some pain, and finding it hard to open my left eye. This will pass, tons of brushing and redness. I’m definitely in grumpy patient mode, but thrilled to have it behind me. I’m looking you in the eyes with my head up, shoulders back and giving you my best Grace Kelly pose. Okay, well, I will be in a few weeks. I have a feeling the surgery is going to be life-changing in that I won’t have to be self-conscious any more and always trying to hide my left eye. It’s something that has really hindered my social interactions over the years. Now if my doctor could just give me 2020 vision. Ha! He did say maybe one day. Here’s a poem I wrote during my dark period that I never got around to posting. Hope you enjoy. xoxo
Infinity the only place
where parallel lines meet.
Somewhere between what
was and what is yet to be.
But far away from a place
where recriminations and
the sharp tongue of reality
scuff their toes on promises
unfulfilled and broken.
In this space the sun has no
nemesis, just an early version
of what will be, one they can’t
see. Still believing in the
alignment of stars and light years.
No acknowledgement of how
time can carry weight.
Or how minds can change.
Some soulmates aren’t meant
to be life mates
Soon enough the real plane
intervenes with a mouth full
of truth. Parallel lines aren’t
meant to intersect in any other
place but infinity.
The universe and geometry
reiterate this refrain.
-Tosha Michelle
Such a great tune and lyrics
Thankfully, eye surgery went well. Wishing a speedy recovery.
Gorgeous poem. Parallel lines may be perfect for one another, yet, they were never meant to be. Sad reality of love and life.
Be well. xoxo

Aww. Hugs. “I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” -Marilyn Monroe

I am glad to hear that your surgery went well. (I will be having surgery myself soon.) As for being life changing with hiding your eye. I will be truthful with you. You are still a gorgeous woman. Oh, great poem too.

I also wrote about this idea of soul mates recently (Entanglement), thinking about physics, and here you were thinking about geometry, strange to realize how incomplete Euclid and Newton were when they always seem so intriscially obvious. Comforting, perhaps, to consider the perspective that time and eternity might give… where to swim, where to touch bottom there. this is an achingly beautiful poem my friend. I am glad it survivied the waiting. and you keep on the mend. 🙂

Your poem really made me think back. All the plans, & His plan. The Reckoning of the Truth.
Open Hearts find the best and the worst in us all. The most we can hope for is to stay close, to where you find joy. The big picture is out of my hands.
Beautiful poem Tosha, thank you.
