I am not she.
The view is not the same.
I sit by roses but don’t
see the thorns.
Even after all these years,
still full of the blush
of wonder
My air is warm, fragrant.
My heart speaks of
watercolor nights and
a breathless yearning.
I’m wild for you, but not
afflicted. I recite charms
through verse and song
by a bending light.
I speak in sunlight even
when the cumuli
starts to gather. Lying
face down in the grass.
Hope imprinted on my cheek.
My heart bleeds in syntax.
Just a gleaming of my
streaming soul. Writing what
touches me best.
Love. Fear. Happenstance.
A trembling mind.
The punctuation peppered
with sea salt and caramel.
I steadfastly sit by the ocean
as the boats drift away.
I choose to contend with the
wind. Making a symphony
with the air.
Chopin playing against
the elements and tide.
Never just a passing note,
or a mere flash of a melody
burning or receding.
Here the pitch rings a psalm
of stormy serenity, a
rain-cleansed sun in a
perpetual state of grace.
The perverse strength
of fragility and hazel eyes.

Thanks my lovely friend. I hope the back feels better soon. We should chat one of these days. It’s sort of crazy how our lives mirror each other’s in some ways. Hope you have the best weekend 💕

You’re so welcome.💙 After More thoughtful reading of this masterpiece. I felt a deeper appreciation, for the way You seem so effortlessly sit still, and allowed the moment flow around you. As you captured them all, of course💕.

This read so perfectly in terms of rhythm, like there was no punctuation, just a flow of beautifully constructed words. Bravo once more 🙂

I loved seeing this poem again Tosha, it is one of my favorite things. You so beautifully bring us to several places in this poem. You transport us first into identity’s sanctum with the wonderfully antithetical “I am not she.” We are given to know that the poem will place the appearance to the actual in quiet, sometimes sidelong contrasts throughout. We are right there with you reaching absently for a sea-salt caramel while the quietude and melody of the Chopin, waves, and wind are sweeping you right along to yet another dance of contrasting congruence that would theoretically not fit but are melded by the sweet rhythmic structure of the poem into cohesive unity. The serenity is stormy, the sunlight rainy, and the fragility is strong. This evokes that familiar feeling for me that we are not the sum of our parts, we are just simply all of our parts together. We are not put together in order to make sense or to be made sense of (such proclivities lead to division, they never hold), rather we are made just to be, and perhaps to care for others along the way. This gives us space to be “wild but not afflicted” – a gorgeous cleverly contrasting description btw! – it sounds to me like truth. It sounds to me like reconciliation. This is an important poem, lovingly crafted. Reblogging this if I may. Hugs … Lona.

Travel with Tosha to a place of quiet contrasts, peace, reconciliation. One of my favorite poems, opens the antithetical interiors of a quiet afternoon by the sea to the sweeping pathways of the the hearts breezeway. I love this. Link on in to it and get swept. Thanks Tosha, Lona

Blessed, joyful. Happy? Well we don’t always get to keep our loved ones close as we want, but I am still here every day and feel nothing but wanting to live every day. But it’s hard to always be happy when my circumstances make those I love sad – it is so unfair, but art like yours is one balm among many and I am grateful. 💜
