Winter will always take the light.
The birds will go too.
The cold returns.
The leaves abandon the trees.
You live with it.
You survive.
Knowing it doesn’t matter,
you still hold the birds in the
lushness of green.
The magnolias bloom.
Alive in your mind.

Let’s not rush it…ha, ha! Lovely words.

That’s how I get through winter, thinking about summer, when we complain how hot it is and long for cooler weather! I think you’ve captured it!

Yes, it does remain alive in our mind – we awaken with the earth. Winter was only an unpleasant dream.

Beautifully ended. Its what we perceive it to be.
Somehow after thousands of years Brits still moan about the weather EVERY DAY.

That’s like Southerners grumbling about humidity in the summer. I love how lush and green the UK is.

You know, Tosha, your lovely poem here almost makes me long for winter again — say it can’t be so! 🙂 If it wasn’t for the “actual” cold and snow I’d welcome it tomorrow. And Sarah McLachlan — one of my absolute favorites! Saw her last year (maybe the year before?) in concert; 2nd row, I was in heaven. Good choice of music, excellent choice of words! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! And it’s Happy Mother’s Day for you, isn’t it? 🙂
