Another Time, Perhaps

image

I grasp for infinity
while trying to coax
the pins and needles
from my head.

I long to sleep
and wake up in a new land
where I can ease
into a less chaotic life,
slip into serenity
and under your sleeve.

No ill intent in my trespass
but I do have a plan.

We’ll take over the moon
and force the clock
to surrender.

We’ll live forever on
a daydream and pixie dust.

Dine each night on
wild berries and sunflower seeds.

You there in the leather jacket.
I’m not boastful.
I take no credit for our meal.

I just ask that you consider me
man of wasp and honey,
maze and train whistle.

Feel the softness
under your coat.

Take it off
and let me in.

      1. ……where they go. I’m sure you meant “where they go”. It’s good to put things back when you are finished with them.

  1. Great poetry – I would note any man who wears a proper leather jacket would rarely if ever dine on seeds and berries – think about it. XO

  2. Beautiful is just the start of it. It’s such an intelligent poem. It speaks on so many registers. It has nature, natural elements, alternative and alternate lifestyles, aesthetics of love figured on food and intimacies: clean eating and clean loving. I read the poem a second time. It’s beauty captivated me and taught me things. You are an incredible writer Tosha. Not to mention ingenious in how you write. There were many favourite lines, some are”Weā€™ll take over the moon
and force the clock to surrender.” Keep on writing. I hope I get to see many of you published in my lifetime so I can tell friends and family I know Tosha Michelle I read her work and I can attest she has always been brilliant from that time. Maybe she was still learning as I am but she always put her talent, heart and skills out šŸ™‚

      1. Awww, you don’t have to put me on a payroll. We could be partners paying each other; working with each other. What I said was the truth. You are talented and it shows. Don’t let any stupid haters, jealous asshats tell you otherwise. Listen to constructive criticism but like a music piece you must have an ear for criticism too. Pay attention. Select parts or wholes when necessary. With praise the same praxis applies. If you want good feedback ask for it politely when it is required and demand it, also with a suave gentle firmness, when you require it. Challenge yourself at times but also know your comfort zones. I am not a talent. But this something I learned so I shared with you. I want to read more of your poetry and I am sorry if I can’t. I am actually not so free these days as I used to be some months ago. I need to sit down and read things too. But that is not a total excuse as I read stuff in Captain’s blog and Mari’s ā€” sometimes I procrastinate so forgive me for that. I will hopefully get to read some of your recent work and the new ones you aim to publish here. Keep writing please

  3. Oh gosh, when I read poetry like this I want to make the clock surrender, too. You have a way with words that is unlike anyone. Unique in style and filled with pure passion, your writing is often visceral. I love this piece, so much.
