Gravity

image

From a distance
I make out his shadow.
My eyes cling to the bruised
way he stands.
Below him lies a sunlit garden.
Green, luminescent.
The dew is so heavy it must sit down.
The breeze feels like a hopeful lover.
There’s nothing I don’t see in him.
Beauty’s edge.
The tip of grace.
The hint of masculinity.
He’s in my misshapen skull,
below the skin.
I’m drawn to his sensual gravity
I wish fabric away on a four
leaf clover.
Under his clothes I’m bare
I plummet. I fall for-
toward his sexy order,
Shifting heat, molten.
Release is found on impact.

  1. Another beautiful poem and cover, Miss T! That line — “My eyes cling to the bruised way he stands” — so sweet indeed. Keepin’ this short tonight — got a darn cold now on top of my bad wrist! It must be winter. 🙂

      1. Oh, will do, will do. I’ve about had it with this stuffed up head, sneezing. I know you’ve been there. Poppin’ Vit. C, 🙂 Hey, and I meant to add: I love today’s art, too — so cool!

  2. Epic! and daring!

    My favorite lines from you:

    He’s in my misshapen skull,
    below the skin.
I’m drawn to his sensual gravity
I wish fabric away on a four
    leaf clover.

You always manage to produce such beautiful & lyrical lines of brilliance and spark inspiration in us.

When I read this poem…the title and the poem itself fits with this song in a strange good way.

  3. This is such a beautiful introduction to your other poem Anything but I read them backwards and now we understand more how anything he says would go. There are some loves which have that incredible effect on us that we feel them as if they were us. So many lines that caught my attention and heart but most of all the lines “My eyes cling to the bruised way he stands” “He’s in my misshapen skull, below the skin”, “Under his clothes I’m bare”, “Release is found on impact”

    1. Thank you. I think you summed it up succinctly when you wrote “there are some loves which have the incredible effect on us that we feel them as if they were us” In this case that is more true than you can imagine. My muse is loosely based on a long lost reality, but has become more a creation of my imagination, a dream lover if you will. I think I prefer him much better this way

      1. Sometimes the dream lovers are better than the original. You can fall utterly in love with a person, witness countless synchronicities and even feel them through the ether and then find out that in their prosaic reality they are more akin to a prick than to your dream lover. That is when you just go back to the dream 😀

      2. I think it was Andy Warhol who said fantasy love is better than realty. I’m not sure if that’s the exact quote, but I think there’s some truth in that. It’s akin to what you just wrote. Reality will never live up to our expectations. Of course, you can’t hold a fantasy but then a fantasy can’t leave you either so….Perhaps, we hold to love we do get, cherish it but supplemented it with dreams.
